High Path Avian Flu has swept across more than 300 dairy herds this year, with California taking the largest hit. Despite the rise, officials say the virus is slowly going away.
USDA’s Bird Flu Advisor tells Ag Insider they believe it is unlikely High Path Avian Flu in dairy herds will persist. They say all measures up to this point have helped isolate infected herds. Advisors stopped short however of saying the situation was under control.
California leads the nation in cattle cases, as well as human infections. 15 workers on dairy farms there have been confirmed with the virus, but symptoms have been mild.
