Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced on Twitter that the USDA will be expanding their investigation into the beef markets. The investigation will be looking into the increasing divide in pricing between box beef and live cattle.
The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s president Marty Smith says that he welcomes the investigation. Smith stated, “We look forward to the agency’s recommendations about improvements the industry can make to its markets.”
