As interest grows in industrial hemp as an ag commodity, researchers at Kansas State University are looking at the crop as livestock feed, particularly for cattle.
Assistant professor of beef production medicine, Michael Kleinhenz speaks with RFD-TV’s own Janet Adkison on how this concept came about and what they have discovered so far.
According to Kleinhenz, “The big hurdle is actually, the FDA has said that feeding hemp to cattle is not allowed, and that’s because they don’t know what the cannabinoids do once it enters into the body or where it goes... and it passing along into the food chain to human consumers. So, their big concern is what does cannabinoids do, obviously, to humans as well as animals.”
