A major West Coast port will soon get millions of dollars for upgrades.
The Federal Railroad Administration will spend nearly $30 million on a rail expansion project at the Port of Kalama, and they will also upgrade unloading and staging areas.
The Port often has lengthy backlogs because of its limited track system. Officials say the money will add 25,000 linear feet of rail track. They expect these projects to increase efficiency there by as much as 30 percent when complete.
